| About Me |
A lil' about myself... I'm "near" my mid-30's and, as a child, grew up at various locations back east (Delaware, Michigan, Philly). Through my home, friends, and family, I grew up around dogs until I left for college...collies, shepherds, dobs, etc. Of course, as a child, you really don't have "much" responsibility...you just play with them. During my 6 years of undergraduate and masters education, I never owned a pet (well...some fish). My big-brother of my fraternity had a bull terrier named Achilles....not the brightest critter on the planet but loveable. Achilles managed to get a bone lodged in his throat, and Craig spent nearly $1,000 to save him. I was like "A grand for a freakin dog?" I reminisce about this for a very good reason. After obtaining my masters from Wharton at UPenn, I moved to Arizona. Within one month, I purchased my "very own" pet to take care of entirely myself. He happened to be a malamute-east.timber-mex. gray mix. I learned a lot over the years raising him (wish I could go back in time with the knowledge I have now). Kaiyuh is now 9 years old (September 2004). And, to reflect upon the previous paragraph, if I needed to spend $10,000 to save his life....I MOST CERTAINLY WOULD! The irony, eh? He IS my family...he IS my best friend. Over the years, I learned (the hard way at times) about the intricacies of a wolf vs a dog. As well, I began to search for more and more information about wolves....only to find myself more intrigued and more "in-love" with these wonderful creatures. I, now, will only choose to have a wolf as my pet companion...their love is hard to resist. I met John from Tundra Shepherd Rescue of Arizona thanks to my wonderful veterinarian Dr. Hessian of Palisades Veterinary Clinic of Fountain Hills, AZ. I read through his site (and Chris's... Wolf Whisper). I knew, at that time, that I wanted to include, in my life, rescuing these wonderful "critters". I received my first "rescue" on Aug. 20, 2004...and this beautiful bitch is named Tala...supposedly Iroquoi for "wolf". She and Kaiyuh bonded quite quickly (2 days?) and I enjoy watching them frolic around. To summarize, I've been a "wolf" owner since '95 and have been awed by how wolves truly are. I've decided to help in any fashion I can to assist in finding loving homes for abandoned wolves and hybrids. In time, I will continue to add to this site to add more information about wolves and hybrids themselves, as well as to assist in adoptions.
NOTE: This site used to be a site for an online gaming clan. Our clan name was WOLF, and we based our structure and actions on wolves and the wolf pack. If you see a forum post by "wf", that is me....my old game name, WraithForger. I will continue to use that name for personal reasons/memories. |
